Indhold

International development entails new opportunities and new challenges for international society. International law provides a regulatory framework to deal with this development. The significance of international law as a key factor in negotiations, decision-making and the delineation of parameters worldwide are underlined by the fact that national and international boundaries are constantly changing and that trade is increasingly conducted on an international scale. An understanding of the principles of international law is fundamental to everyone acting internationally, whether through direct participation in intergovernmental matters or as international specialists in companies, trade organisations or NGOs. The course will mix chronological and thematic analysis of the international legal order. Selected topics such as those listed below will be studied in depth:

·          The sources and methods of international and comparative law

·          International sale and trade in goods

·          International trade in services and labour

·          The multinational enterprise

·          Dispute settlement in an international context

The course will provide the student with a thorough knowledge and an understanding of the legal rules governing international relations. The student will acquire a practical understanding of legal method and will be capable of including legal issues in analyses and negotiations taking place in an international context.
