Formål

Introduktion til dagens Rusland  
Disciplinen giver en basal introduktion til dagens Rusland - til landets geografi, befolkningsforhold, politiske system, internationale forankring, økonomi og sociale forhold. Der introduceres ligeledes til centrale personer og institutioner i nutidens russiske kulturliv.

Ruslands historie og samfundsforhold 1
Kurset skal introducere til Ruslands historie fra middelalderen til i dag i dens internationale kontekst. Foruden landets politiske og sociale historie skal også centrale ideologier og kulturelt-politisk formede strømninger i perioden (nationalromantik, slavofili, liberalisme, socialisme etc.) præsenteres.

Stretching over two continents, Russia is the world's largest country by far.   It covers over ten percent of the globe's land mass, and spans eleven time belts.   Russia today is a federal republic and a multiethnic society with a vibrant cultural life.   Still fraught with contradiction, contemporary Russia is in constant flux: it is a place where age-old traditions and modern global culture meet in everyday life.   This course will explore various aspects of contemporary Russia , covering social, political, and cultural topics.

A Survey of Russian History

This course surveys the history of Russia from the beginnings until today.   The objective of the course is for students to understand major historical processes in Russia through the lens of social, political, and cultural history.   Students will be introduced to main ideological and cultural trends in Russian history and special attention will be given to Russia' s relationship with the outside world.
