Ved bedømmelsen af prøvepræstationen vil der blive lagt vægt på, i hvor høj grad den studerende

- anvender relevante analytiske metoder.
- producerer selvstændigt skriftligt arbejde om emnet.
- viser færdighed i at formidle emnet klart og sammenhængende.
The Green and Pleasant Land and The True North: Images of Self (and Other) in England and Canada Through History to the Present
Bowler hats and umbrellas, stiff upper lips, village life in thatched cottages, kick-and-rush football and hooligans: there are stereotypical representations of England aplenty. Almost as many are the stereotypical representations of Canada: dogsled riding and hockey playing on frozen lakes, Mounties in impeccable red tunics, beavers, moose and lumberjacks.
These perceptions have come to symbolise England and Canada to strangers and are easily exposed as unrepresentative, outdated or plain false. Another set of un-nuanced representations of England and Canada are held by the English and the Canadians themselves , however. Certain important images remain ingrained in the English and Canadian collective "psyches"; images which have become surrounded by mythic interpretations of historical processes and events whose true origins disappear in the mists of memory.
All national identities consist of images of the national self and national myths that sustain these images. However, as not all parts of nations' histories are heroic, noble and suitable for maintaining a sense of pride in national achievements, all national identity-building must use history selectively; hence national myth-making.
National myths are more complex and significant than is commonly realised, and this course sets out not simply to debunk some of the many myths that are part of English and Canadian national identities, but also to discuss their purposes and value. Because of historically-determined differences and similarities, myth-making processes in these two societies make for interesting comparative studies.
Den studerende kan først indstille sig til prøven i bachelorprojektet, når samtlige andre prøver på de to første år af bacheloruddannelsen er bestået.

Den første del af semesteret består af emneundervisning, der foregår på hold, hvor centrale dele af et specifikt emneområde gennemgås. I løbet af emneundervisningen forventes den studerende at arbejde med skriftlige opgaver og/eller mundtlige fremstillinger, individuelt og sammen med andre. I samarbejde med underviseren udvælger den studerende et særligt aspekt af emneområdet som sit projektemne. Den sidste del af semestret består af individuelt arbejde med informationssøgning og udformning af det valgte projekt, med underviseren som vejleder.
