  • Uddannelsessprog: engelsk
  • Niveau: Bachelor
  • Semester/kvarter: 3 rd semester
  • Timer per uge: 55 lessons in total. Hours per week varies.
  • Deltagerbegrænsning: 35 students
  • Undervisningssted: Herning
  • Hovedområde: Det Samfundsvidenskabelige Fakultet

Formål

The objective of the course is to:

- give the students a theoretical background for and practice in analyzing and

calculating rigid bodies in equilibrium

- provide the student with knowledge about the central working methods and

theories within some areas of analyzing, designing and optimizing statically constructions.

In addition, the objective is to enable the student to give an account of this knowledge and to use this knowledge in the following way to complete to the course:

- Within the analyzing and calculation area the aim of the course is to equip the

students with skills needed to analyze and calculate rigid bodies

- Within the analyzing area the aim of this course is to equip the students with skills needed to analyze statically constructions

- Within the designing area the aim of this course is to equip the students with skills

needed to design statically constructions, to give the students insight into the theoretical basis of designing statically constructions and to give the students an understanding of how statically constructions can be designed.

- Within the optimizing area the aim of this course is to equip the students with skills needed to optimize statically constructions and to give the students insight into the theoretical basis understanding of how Pro/E Mechanica can be used to optimize statically constructions.

Indhold

The 3D CAD system Pro/E Mechanica makes up the framework of this course. The following areas will be in focus:

  • Components and force addition
  • Moment and couple
  • Load distribution
  • Equilibrium, type of supports and free-body diagram
  • Tension, compression and shear
  • Normal stress and strain
  • Ductility and Brittleness
  • Hooke's law
  • Poisson's ratio
  • Shear Stress and strain
  • Allowable stresses
  • Cylindrical pressure vessels
  • 3-D Stresses
  • Von Mises effective stress
  • Stress concentrations
  • Types of beams, loads and reactions
  • Shear forces and binding moments
  • Normal stresses in beams
  • Shear stresses in beams of rectangular cross section
  • Temperature and prestrain effects
  • Columns with different support conditions
  • Pro/E Mechanica structure
  • Boundary conditions
  • Loads
  • Materials
  • Validating design
  • Optimizing design
  • Simplifying design

The main focus will be on dimensioning mechanical constructions without breakage or unacceptable deflections. Furthermore, building up a simple statically construction on the 3D model and Pro/E Mechanica is reviewed.

Personal development

The purpose of this course is to develop the student's ability to express ideas, analyze, design and optimize a simple statically construction through the use of Pro/E Mechanica.

Faglige forudsætninger
