Formål

Formål: In the final evaluation it will be taken into account to what extent the student

  • Can describe how people behave within organizatons, including group behavior and management.
  • Can describe different forms of organizational structures and how this relates to organizational behaviour.
  • Can describe the environment of the organization and its relation to organizational structure and behaviour, including the organizations influence on the environment through marketing and strategy.
  • Can do a simple analysis of the organizations resources and environment.
  • Can identify the elements of the financial statement, including the components of the balance sheet, profit and loss account and cash flow and be able to describe how these elements are related to each other.
  • Can describe the basic principles of cost accounting.
  • Can describe organizational decision making, including investment decisions, the role of planning and budgeting and how this relates to organizational structure and behaviour.

Indhold

International Business Analysis

 

The first part of the course provides a general understanding of management, with an overview of organizational and management theory. This includes themes such as organizational behaviour, structure and design, leadership and motivation theory. Part of this course is linked to other core courses in that it views the organizations historical context, political and legal environment and culture both as a constraint and as an opportunity.

 

The second part of the course focuses on the process of organizational decision-making and the economic methods used during this process, which includes themes like:

 

Planning, budgeting and control, including an overview of managerial accounting.

Decision-making. Rationality and organizational and personal limitations to rational behaviour and decision-making.

Calculation of the costs and benefits of a decision, including a basic understanding of cost theory derived from economic theory.

Economic calculation methods and basic investment theory, including techniques like break-even analysis and net present value

Undervisningsform: Instructions include lectures, student presentations based on group work on specified topics, class discussions and exercises in the basic tools and techniques of economic calculation, using spreadsheets.
