To guide the students through state of the art of automation in livestock production, important tasks and challenges; to provide students the competence for finding feasible approach and new technologies in future research and developments.
Introduction to state of the art of automation in animal production systems including automation in feed preparation, feeding, milking, climate control, cleaning, and control mechanisms.
Objective measures of animal behaviour, animal learning theories, and operant conditioning.
Technologies for subcutaneous, internal and external identification of animals and their applications.
GPS and radio frequency identification for individual control and decision making.
Technologies for monitoring of weight gain, reproduction, feed and water intake, thermal production, wellbeing, walking pattern and system utilisation.
Application of image analysis based on the signals from sound, thermograph, infrared technologies and webcam.
Sensors for measurement of animal products and wastes and modelling of signal output.
Automated techniques and real-time control methods.
