Formål

The course introduces the student to basic statistical methods in the agricultural and environmental domain. The course introduces the student to analysis of variance, regression analysis and the general linear model, emphasizing the application of the methods including model selection, model checking and model criticism. The course will familiarize the student with statistical analysis of typical data in agricultural and environmental science using statistical programming environment R.

Læringsmål

At the end of the course, the student is expected being capable to:

  • o Explain the basics of analysis of variance including the concept of significance
  • o Explain the basics of analysis of regression
  • o Explain the basics of the general linear model
  • o Describe methods for checking models with regard to the assumptions of the analysis
  • o Use software to carry out statistical analysis

Perform an statistical analysis of typical data from the domain, including model criticism and conclusions from the results of the analysis
