Formål

Having participated in this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Describe and understand central characteristics of the cleantech development
  2. Understand and use different theories of business development, innovation and their relation to cleantech industries as well as the public role.
  3. Analyse cleantech business opportunities and problems and relate them to strategy, organisation, technology, market and the public.
  4. Combine and contrast different innovation, systems theory, political science and sociology of technology models in order to determine to what extent they interrelate, overlap or contradict each other
  5. Evaluate different subsector's development within cleantech using the theories of tghe course strategic models in order to develop a suitable model within specific practical contexts.
  6. Delimit, analyse and propose business development opportunities within cleantech

Indhold

Can enterprises obtain sustained growth by engaging in cleantech? And what is the role and relationship between business development and societal concerns for climate change? Why does the development sometimes go extremely quick and sometimes the opposite? How can a balanced technology and business strategy be instrumental? These are the primary questions this course will focus on.

The main purpose is to create learning with the students on how to create innovation and business development within cleantech, through cases to learn about experiences and future trends, to discuss special characteristics of cleantech and include a combined private public as well as global perspective.

The following main areas and topics will be dealt with in the course:

  1. Identification and definition of Cleantech
  2. Theoretical perspectives on Cleantech business development and innovation
  3. Systems theory, sociology of technology, political science and innovation theory
  4. Technological systems, infrastructure and standards
  5. Business Development within cleantech - opportunities and barriers
  6. Wind turbine industry and innovation systems development
  7. Sustainable buildings, the role of competing standards
  8. Electrical car, backlash etc.

Faglige forudsætninger

The student should have passed the courses Strategic Management of Technology I and II and Business Strategy, Technology and Innovation before starting on this course.
