The goal of Technology Specialization I (TS1) is to support the technological mentor company project. The project is an individual specialization and the student is selecting a technological topic together with the company and the head of studies (in his place, the appointed supervisor).
The subject must be highly technological and typical areas could be technologies of
- Mechanical and energy
- Electronic/communication
- Computer/Internet
- Manufacturing and supply chain
- Construction and housing
- Reduction of environmental impacts ("Cleantech")
- Services
- Business process and other non-material technologies
The understanding of technology is broad and do generally encompass the essential productive forces of the enterprise.
The purpose is to train the student in the ability to learn a highly complicated technology in a short time and to be able to understand, assess and use this technology on an operational level. This includes assessing and delimitating a technical problem, considering alternative technical solutions and analysing them, producing a recommended choice of technique. These abilities are central for further work in the industry, where tasks in the future require the ability to learn new technological knowledge fast and to a deep level.
A scientific and methodological systematic is to be trained and used. Scientific articles and critical textbooks should always be employed.
Individual, and in agreement with the mentor company.
A broad understanding of technologies and marketing reflecting the students B.Sc. background.
Hans Henrik Hansen (course responsible)

English
The students are expected to find a vast amount of relevant scientific literature on their own.
Report, electronic presentation and individual oral examination. The report must contain:
- Abstract
- Introduction to the subject
- Methods of data acquisition
- Theory of the technology.
- Description of the technology and the alternatives
- Analysis and results
- Summary, conclusion and suggestions for further work, including planning of Technology specialization II (and III)
- Literature references.
The student presents the report in the form of an electronic presentation with a substantial emphasis on:
- Independent, relevant and factual information of interest for other students.
- Attractive and communicative electronic presentation with potential use of tables, graphs, figures, animations and (own) video clip.
- Optional exemplification in the form of a small calculation, demonstration or experiment. (make agreement with the study manager concerning purchasing equipment).
The student has 10 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of examination of the content of the report.
Approved/not approved.
Present at the examination: Lecturer and internal examiner.
