On completion of the module, the student will be able to, on a scientific basis:
The module will present a variety of learning theories relevant to the study of learning in a lifespan perspective and will offer students the possibility to examine a variety of practices as well as explore the relation between theory and practice.
Students will gain insight into the social, cultural and psychological factors influencing theories and practices in different traditions.
Critical assessment of existing learning activities combined with empirical studies in the form of observational or field studies, as well as development of proposals for innovative learning activities drawing on, for instance, use of new media, will be an important element in the module.

The structure of the module is planned to have two approaches: one going through the module with general themes about learning and one track where specialist contribute with more specific subject and themes from the field or factors which have impact on the field.
Each session is structure in a main lecture, 2/3 of the time followed by 1/3 of the time with class discussion and work with exercises in the study group. This can be work in study group where the students analyse and combine the session with their own experience from practice.
These should be followed by student's presentation of analysis and work in the study group for discussions on the class. The purpose of this is to train the students to critic, analyse and present discussions.
