In the instruction, importance is attached to enabling the student to draw up statistical models in respect of a large number of frequently occurring situations and to carry out analyses with the aid of the models, as well as enabling the students to critically evaluate the preconditions and limitations of a model.
The topics dealt with are descriptive statistics, elementary calculus of probability, random variables, probability distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis test including partial variance analyses, analysing numerical tables including cross tabulations and regression analyses with one explanatory variable and multiple regression analysis.
