Indhold

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course has two main goals: (1) Cover the main empirical discussions of economic growth. (2) To give a deeper discussion of selected areas in the field based on new papers.

COURSE SUBJECT AREAS:

First the literature of the 1970s on cross country patterns of development will be discussed. Then the literature since 1990 will be covered. The course will concentrate on the Barro-type cross-country regressions, and the many attempts to use the framework for the analysis of the effects of policy/political variables on economic growth.

The course will have two parts. First the lectures will be based on the second half of the Barro and Sala-i-Martín textbook.

The second half will be based on selected chapters from the Handbook of Economic Growth.
