Formål

This is an introductory course on photochemistry, photophysics, and photobiology.

Indhold

We discuss commonly encountered chemical processes that are initiated by light. We also discuss physical processes, such as fluorescence, phosphorescence, and energy transfer that compete with photoinitiated chemical reactions. Experimental techniques used to monitor photophysical processes are also presented. A discussion of applications in biological systems underscrores the relevance of the material.

Læringsmål

At the end of the course, the students must:

· be able to understand and appreciate work that is performed at the forefront of research in photosciences.

Studieordning og bedømmelse

Bacheloruddannelsen i kemi

  • Hj.opg., bedømt efter 7-skala med intern censur

A mark is given based on the Danish grading scale (the 7-point scale), based upon the paper and seminar with internal examiners (intern 'censor').
