Adult developmental psychology is a cross-disciplinary orientated field covering both normal and pathological changes in adulthood. In these years the late adulthood is particularly in focus. It is due to the fact that more than 20 % of the population in the Western world will be older adults in less than 30 years. In time with this significant demographical change the need for knowledge within the field of adult-developmental psychology will increase considerably and this is the reason why this discipline will get a much more central position within psychology in the near future than is the case now. In this seminar we will deal with a number of biological, psychological, and social aspects of development in adulthood. Including development of personality and cognitive skills, and what characterises the successful psychological adult development. Furthermore, we will look at the cross field between normal and pathological age related changes. The gathered material is being discussed in relation to psychological practice. It is expected that the students participate actively and are motivated for covering an area of own choice (within the subject of the seminar) as a presentation to the other participants in the seminar.
The seminar will consist of lectures, presentations from students, discussion, and supervision.
Programme and list of literature will be handed out on the first day of teaching.
