The objectives are that the students after having participated in the course should be able to:
The course has three main goals: (1) Introduce the main discussions of the problems of development. (2) Discuss some main development problem based on a set of new papers chosen in the curriculum at the level of an actual participant in the research process. (3) To teach the student the basic techniques of cost benefit analysis as is actually used.
COURSE SUBJECT AREAS:
The course has variable content
Three themes will be covered: 1 and 2 are seminar oriented, while 3 is more job
oriented.
Theme 1: The macro effectiveness development discussion, based on recent
research project of MP.
Theme 2: The governance discussion: The impact of governance on growth, and
vice versa. Based on current research project of MP
Theme 3: Cost-benefit at the practitioners level. Meant for students who will actually
work in LDCs, who are typically analyzing projects.
Lectures. The students are encouraged to write seminars in the fields
