Læringsmål

Pass of this course will make the student capable of:

  • identify environmentally harmful gases from animal production units.
  • understand the mechanisms (biology, biochemistry, physics) which lead to the production and volatilization of environmentally harmful gases.
  • understand the concept of odour including means to quantify odour.
  • state emission rates of environmentally harmful gases and odour from animal production units.
  • identify the best mean to control environmentally harmful gases and odour
  • design and construct air cleaning systems

 

 

Indhold

The course will provide the students with fundamental knowledge of the gas emissions such as ammonia, carbon dioxide, odour, odorants, and dust, which are produced and emitted from livestock housing facilities, and design and construction of air cleaning systems that can reduce the gaseous emissions.

Kandidatuddannelsen i biosystemteknologi

Approval is a combination of 3 written reports 8-10 pages and oral examination. Two reports are worked out in groups of 3-5 students, and one is done individually. Each student specifies the contribution to the reports. Oral examination for 20 min without means of aid. The reports and the oral exam counts equal.
Internal examiner, the Danish 7-point grade scale.
