Formål
The aim of the course is to enable the student to control a physical, chemical or biological based process. This involves the registration of process data. The controlling data has to be analysed in order to give input to the process control system. This is relevant for big energy transferring processes, chemical and biological systems. The theory ia also applicable to smaller systems as the temperature controller in an iron. The course aims to impact basic knowledge to the student concerning measuring techniques, instrumentation, data-analysis and control engineering.
Læringsmål
When passing the course the student shall be able to:
-
Establishing a workable mathematical model describing a given system. Important is also to explain the effect of assumptions and elements of the model that to some degree is inaccurate.
Apply dynamic simulation software, analysing the system dynamics.
-
To design simple PID control systems, and to be able to optimise the settings and to give input to the choice of components that fits the system in a better way.: Valves, morors, pumps, ventilators etc.
-
Be able to design bigger instrumentation projects, involving process and control components. Including also PI diagrams, documentation for stability etc.
