Formål

The aim of the course is to provide the participants with basic knowledge on relevant sensor technologies to be used for automation solutions within the area of biosystems engineering. The participants should understand the physical and technical principles of selected types of sensors and be able to analyse their applicability for relevant purposes. Furthermore, the course should enable the participants to understand and analyse a sensor as a component in a sensor system encompassing signal processing and transmission capabilities.

Læringsmål

The participants should be able to

  • explain the operation principles of sensors
  • analyse the characteristics of sensors
  • explain how to calibrate a sensor
  • describe how to handle and analyse noise, error factors and limitations of a sensor
  • put forward suitable reasons for the selection of a sensor or sensor system for a given application
  • design simple signal conditioning circuits
  • explain the principles of wireless sensor networks
  • explain the principles of remote sensing and analyse possible applications
  • explain the principles of machine vision sensing and analyse possible applications
  • describe the principles of geographical positioning and orientation sensors and systems and analyse their applications

Indhold
