Formål

On completion of the module, the student will be able to, on a scientific basis:

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and insight into the fields of organisational and workplace learning, their similarities as well as their differences
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and insight into theories and models of learning processes, learning possibilities and learning spaces in different forms of organisations
  • Analyse the implications of different understandings of organisational and workplace learning
  • Define factors supporting formal informal and non-formal learning in organisations with regard to organisational cultures and management practices that promote or hinder learning processes
  • Analyse the interplay between formal education and competence development in the workplace
  • Discuss the role of the consultant in improving management skills and organisational performance

 

Indhold

This module will focus on the identification, analysis and evaluation of working processes in organisations regarded as informal and non-formal learning. The aim is to understand and distinguish between theories of qualifications and competences and their relation to work-based learning. Human Resource Development and the role of external consultation based on field studies in enterprises will be examined. Students will develop a critical understanding of theories of organisational cultures and forms of management that support or prevent organisational learning. The module will provide an introduction to qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Undervisnings- og arbejdsform

Teaching in the module is a combination of lectures, classroom discussions, group discussion, student presentation of papers, exercises in class and work with one or more cases. The students are expected to have read the texts beforehand in order to be able to critically assess and discuss the value of individual texts. Students are also expected to make every effort to exercise their capacity for critical understanding during both their preparation and their participation in the sessions as well as to volunteer to make presentations in class in order to prepare for and rehearse oral presentations.
