Formål

 

The aim of the course is to provide the students with fundamental theoretical insight into the internal and external communicative requirements of the organisation as well as providing the student with the competences needed to undertake specific internal and external communication tasks using relevant theories, methods and concepts.

Indhold

 

The course centers on the functions and importance of organisational communication. The student will be working with the types of communication which form part of the organisation's communication plans for the purpose of providing information and creating dialogue.

                                In order to fulfill the above-mentioned objectives, the students should acquire the following qualifications:

a) Knowledge about:

  • Relevant theories, methods and concepts of organizational communication and their practical application, including web content

 

b) Skills in:

  • Analyzing, planning, coordinating and producing relevant genres within the above-mentioned areas, including the web

Faglige forudsætninger

 

1 st semester courses in Academic Writing incl. Grammar and Principles of Communication incl. Rhetorical Communication

Teaching may take the form of tutorials with case work, presentations and discussions as well as lectures. During the course the student will have the opportunity to hand in a number of written assignments

EXAM

During the semester, the students will write a semester project combining the courses Organisational Communication, Intercultural Studies, Fundamentals of Marketing and Media Production II. The topic of the project will be given by AU-IBT and the students should demonstrate their knowledge about and proficiency in Organizational Communication.

 A randomly selected number of students may attend an oral examination based on the report and the syllabus.

The report and the oral examination are assessed by the teacher and an internal censor.

Students receive one mark according to the Danish 7-point scale

 

RE-EXAM

If the student fails to obtain the mark 02 at the ordinary exam the student will have to sit for a 20-minute re-examination. The time and date of the re-exam will be determined by AU-IBT.

One day before the oral re-examination the student draws a subject with related questions in Organisational Communication. The student prepares an oral presentation based on the principles of Rhetorical Communication and the usage of OHP, PowerPoint etc. The student's presentation is followed by a discussion about the subject and the related questions from the syllabus as well as the student's choice of limitation and focus.

Elements from the curriculum will be included.

The examination lasts for 20 minutes including the teacher's and internal censor's evaluation of the student's performance.

The student will receive one mark according to the 7-point scale.
