The purpose of this course is to achieve competences for selection and evaluation of abatement technologies for livestock production. The students will gain understanding of a number of environmental technologies relevant for agriculture, but also used in other sectors.
•State of the art regarding agricultural production, manure management and utilization of the nutrient content of livestock manure
•Introduction to abatement technologies regarding emissions of odour, ammonia and greenhouse gases from livestock houses, manure storage facilities and from land applied manure. Technologies to be covered include:
•Introduction to measuring systems and analytic equipment available for measuring emissions of gases from livestock production
•Introduction to methodologies for documentation of efficiency, cost and energy consumption
Course: Measuring Technique for mechanical systems, gases, liquids
The course Emissions from Livestock Production should be followed simultaneously in the first quarter of the semester.

Pass of this course will make the student able to:
Approval is a combination of 3 written reports 8-10 pages and oral examination. One report is worked out in groups of 3-5 students, and two are done individually. Each student specifies the contribution to the reports.
The grade will be based on the last written report and oral examination for 30 minutes, equally weighted. The report will be included in the oral exam.
