Formål

The goal of the Master Thesis is to work in-depth and on an advanced level with a subject within technology based business development. It is the student's framework for challenging the major theories from the three previous semesters in juxtaposition with a practical set of issues stemming from the mentor company and a new and refined set of theories. The content of the Master Thesis must reflect the core elements of the education. However, in order to make a profound analysis, a narrower subset of topics is advised.

The project should always contain an element of innovation and business development.

Indhold

The content must be agreed upon between head of studies, company and the student and this must be regulated through a written contract, specifying task, content, expected result of the work and schedule.

Faglige forudsætninger

The students must have completed all of the courses preceding the Master Thesis.

Supervision by approved supervisor at AU-IBT and the company supervisor.

The students are expected to find a significant and requisite amount of relevant scientific literature on their own.

Report, PowerPoint presentation and oral examination. The student, company, examiner and head of studies agree on a subject within the framework of the semester.

 

The thesis must contain:

  1. Title page with optional resume of the problem and the solution.
  2. Abstract.
  3. Contents list.
  4. Acknowledgements.
  5. Introduction to the subject and motivation for the analysis. Typically in the form of Story Telling moving from the general present situation to a number of focus points of interests.
  6. The Problem Statement: Three possibilities: Main question and sub questions, Formulation of hypothesis or Task statement. Goal for solution.
  7. Methodology: A full method concept providing linking of theoretical, empirical and normative work.
  8. Models and theoretical framework. Survey of models/theory and former scientific work, comparison and critical assessment of surveyed theory and synthesis in order to formulate own model and framework of understanding adapted to the task.
  9. Empirical work using the specified data collection methods and the theoretical concepts.
  10. Analysis: Application of models or theoretical framework to the task. Gathering information. Empirical data gathering and field experiments. Interpreting results. Recommended solutions.
  11. Critical assessment of result, uncertainty, risk and further work
  12. Conclusion and suggestions for further work.
  13. Bibliography: References to literature, using systematic reference system
  14. Appendix

The Master Thesis and other reports written must be submitted in two copies and one CD-ROM.
