Formål

The goal of Technology Management I is to empower the student to develop strategies, which enhances the company possibility to access, interpret, assess and acquire new knowledge about technologies and long-term trends, which leads to innovative technological products- and product concepts, manufacturing processes and business opportunities.

Specifically the student learns to:

  • Establish a Technology/Business Development Centre, which promotes the organizations ability to access, acquire, store and retrieve knowledge about new technology.
  • Creating a learning environment that continuously motivates key employees excitement for new technologies and business opportunities. This is supported by empowerment and incentive systems, which rewards curiosity, knowledge sharing and sourcing of innovative technologies.
  • Management of innovative technological projects: Manpower, time, resources, risk and progress. Integration of new technologies and customer needs in product development.
  • Management of Intellectual Property and Human Capital & Knowledge: Copyright, Trademark, patent and licensing laws. Technology transfer.

The courses Technology Management I and II are assessed jointly on the basis of a small scientific paper, powerpoint presentation and oral examination. In groups of 2, each group agrees on a subject within the framework of the course with the course lecturer. The paper must contain:

  • Abstract
  • Introduction to the subject and former scientific work in the area
  • Methods of data acquisition.
  • Model: Survey of models and critical assessment of model. Presenting adapted model.
  • Analysis
  • Conclusion suggestions for further work
  • Literature references.

The group presents the scientific paper in the form of a PowerPoint Presentation with a substantial emphasis on:

  • Independent, relevant and factual information of interest for other students.
  • Attractive and communicative PowerPoint presentation with extensive use of tables, graphs, figures, animations and (own) video clip.
  • Exemplification in the form of calculations, demonstration or experiments. (make agreement with the head of department concerning purchasing equipment).

This presentation should be maximum 10 minutes.

Each student is then examined individually for 15 minutes in the subject of the paper and from subjects within all of the content of the course.

Marking: Seven-step scale. Examiner: Lecturer and internal examiner.
