The aims of the course are that the student acquire in-depth knowledge about the most recent scientific research and the main theories relevant for the communication processes in Internet communication with special focus on social media. The student will become aware of the Internet as a communication platform and the use of weblogs and social media as well as their impact of social media on the users. Besides the student will get the opportunity to work in-depth with a special topic agreed with the teacher and write and defend the points of view and findings presented in the Bachelor's project.
Course background:
The course builds on the knowledge acquired in the first five semesters from all previous courses in communication and culture of the ICM study programme or their equivalents.
The aims of the course are to introduce the students to the genre of Internet communication at strategic as well as practical levels and give the students and understanding of how traditional communication channels are changing. The students will become aware of the Internet as a communication platform and the use of weblogs and social media as well as the impact of social media on the users.
Besides the need for targeted communication in preparation of storyboards, manuscripts and other communication initiatives, such as content writing in internet communication/social media will be studied. The student will also gain practical experience in establishing a social media community and writing content.
All previous ICM Communication/language and culture courses or their equivalents

Teaching may take the form of tutorials with discussions of the latest theoretical research findings as well as case work, presentations, and lectures.
During the course the student will work with the design and implementation of his/her own communication platform and present it to class. Besides the student will have the opportunity to make a number of written assignments in the form of storyboards, blog postings and peer reviews.
