The objective of the course:
The aim of the course is to provide the students with knowledge of current theories and recent scientific research within the different paradigms of intercultural Studies. At the end of the course the student will be able to account for the theories studied. The student will also be able to distinguish between the different discourses in the field of intercultural studies and to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
Course background:
The course builds on the general concepts and skills acquired in Academic Writing and Principles of Communication from the first semester.
THE CENTRAL ISSUES OF THE COURSE:
The course will focus on general cultural theories in the field of cultural studies. The students will be presented to different theoretical models and will have to apply these theoretical models on case material in order to achieve an understanding of the theories.
First semester courses in Academic Writing (including Grammar), and Principles of Communication (including Rhetorical Communication)

Teaching may take the form of tutorials with case work, presentations and discussions as well as lectures. During the course the student will have the opportunity to hand in two written assignments.
