Formål

The aim is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and understanding for being able to describe and analyse the supply chain network and the logistical processes within a bio production. Processes within the supply chain are to be understood as a coordinated system of employees, operations, products, information, and resources. The course is directed toward participants who engage in a vocational profile including intelligent technologies and planning and control of these technologies as regard the employees and the biological production.

Indhold

The course contains basic knowledge concerning planning and control of material and information flows within bioproduction, where there is an interaction between people, biology and technology. Specific areas include:

  • definition of supply chain management (SCM)
  • identification of processes and stakeholder within the supply chain
  • identification and description of closed and open ended supply chains
  • identification and evaluation of factors affection the supply and demand side of supply chains
  • selection and evaluation of different models for estimating the operational efficiency of supply chains
  • identification and evaluation of potential optimisation models in SCM
  • relation of SCM to other management tools like Just in Time, Lean Manufacturing, and Agile Manufacturing
  • identification and evaluation of information technology measures within the supply chain

Undervisnings- og arbejdsform

The teaching method will be organised as problem-based learning. The course will consist of a mixture of expositions of the theoretical matter combined with different problem-based project reports.The course will involve lectures and hands-on exercises. Also, the teaching will involve academic skills like critical and reflective study of methods and written dissemination of findings.

Læringsmål

At the end of the course it is expected that the student is capable of:

  • to outline the basic concepts in supply chain management (SCM)
  • to describe and explain the processes, stakeholders and influencing factors within a supply chain
  • to select and limit logistical problems in a supply chain for bio production
  • to analyse and evaluate the operational efficiency of a supply chain at different management levels
  • to compare SCM to other production management tools
  • to explain the significance of implementing innovative technologies, like information technologies, into the SCM
  • to identify and evaluate potential available decision support tools usable for SCM

Bedømmelse

Approval are based on 3 written reports of 8-10 pages. Two reports worked out in groups of 3-5 students, and one is done individually. Each student specifies the contribution to the reports. The two first reports and the last counts equal. Oral examinations 20-25 min. on the content of the reports. Internal examiner, the Danish 7-point grade scale.
