Formål

The main objective is to acquire knowledge about automation and to solve an automation problem and present the solution in a scientific manner.

Indhold

Students will be presented for a specific automation problem, set up a hypothesis, describe a solution, test and validate the setup, document choices and present the process as a small scientific paper.

Faglige forudsætninger

Course: System analysis and modelling; the course Automatic Control should be taken no later than in parallel

Undervisnings- og arbejdsform

Students will be presented to a real problem that has to be solved scientifically and practically and a report written. Lectures and supervision will be provided.

Literature will primarily be scientific papers from international reviewed journals

Læringsmål

After finalisation of the course students are able to:

Hypothesise an automation problem and set a plan for development of the task.
Specify the requirements and functionality of an automation unit in relation to an analysis of the biological, environmental and technical surroundings.
Design and analyse the structure of an automation solution.
Discuss and document choice of automation components for specific tasks.
Model or build a given automation solution.
Plan, perform, validate, and analyse experiments that documents solutions to an automation task.
Write a scientific report on the given subject, present the problem and solutions, and discuss and reflect on the chosen solutions.
