Formål

The objective of the course is to provide the student with knowledge about the social and technical culture in different production companies in different countries in as well as outside EU and herewith work up knowledge about general conditions in different trades and industries.

In addition, the objective is to enable the student to give an account of this knowledge and to use this knowledge in the following way to complete to the course:

- Within the international area the aim of this course is to give the students a holistic understanding of the connection between theory and practice so that he or she is able to view manufacturing in a greater context and to give the student an understanding of outsourcing and global production in traditional foreign manufacturing companies.

- Within the individual area the aim of this course is to give the students access to create personal references for benefit to the future career abroad.

Indhold

The aim of the course is to provide the students with a holistic knowledge about how to manage a production company under different political, cultural and economical conditions.

The course is an excursion to a foreign country e.g. Poland , Slovakia , Ukraine etc. It is up to the students to decide the destination for the course and each student effects the expenditures to e.g. accommodation, meals and transport by oneself.

There will always be at least one teacher from the GMM Team participating in the course, but the students are responsible for planning and carrying out the course. It is compulsory to participate in the course.

Personal development

The purpose of this course is to develop the student's knowledge of technical operations management terminology and content in such a way that the student through analyses of structured technical production in traditional foreign manufacturing companies can create new knowledge in a strategic, tactic, and operational way, by using practical knowledge with theory.

Requirements for passing an examination

The student must participate 100% in the course

The assignment must be evaluated as passed

The required assignments:

Each student must hand in 1 written report covering a company visit.

The given company visits will be assigned by the coach.

The assignment could include a description of the branch the company belongs to and a description of the production process in focus

- What was the focus of the visit

- What are the general theories regarding the used processes

- How does the practice correlate with the theories

- Recommendation to the company

- Other relevant aspects

Criteria for achieving objectives

· The student must be able to give an account of the acquired knowledge within the subject area by cumulatively to

· demonstrate systematised and comparative knowledge of selected theoretical approach to the subject

· discuss the strength and weaknesses of a selected practical approach and its arguments on a literary, systematic basis

· In addition, the student must be able to use own acquired knowledge within the subject area by cumulatively to

· demonstrate systematised and comparative knowledge of literary approaches to issues related to the subject (to be able to describe, list)

· discuss the strengths and weaknesses of different literary approaches for solving issues and their solution contribution in a literary way (to be able to understand, explain, analyse, use)

· Finally, the student must be able to formulate the knowledge within the subject area by cumulatively to

· give an account of knowledge and use of knowledge in a clear and explicit didactic, explanation- and/or comprehension-oriented with metacommunication when necessary and well-placed. Is able to apply scientific standard modes of expression adapted to - or developed in relation to the subject and the task.
