Formål

 

General competences:

The student must gain insight into, understanding and practise in applying the framework of thought from the strategy literature, thus enabling the student to participate constructively in organisational strategy development processes and the definition of strategies as well as contribute actively to the development of innovative strategies in these processes.

 

Specific competences:

The student must demonstrate knowledge, understanding of - and be able to analyse companies' strategic positions, be able to make strategic choices, bring the strategy to use and identify and analyse how the chosen strategy develops.

The student must not only demonstrate understanding of general strategy, but also in more specific elements, such as strategy considerations within the organisation - finances - marketing and logistics areas.

The objective of the course is furthermore to provide the student with knowledge about research and central theories within the subject area. In addition, the objective is to enable the student to give an account of this knowledge, use this knowledge in the terms of the issues related to the subject area as well as to formulate an account of the knowledge in a scientific way on completion of the course.

Indhold

 

The course ‘Strategy' will deal with both internal and external conditions in relation to corporate strategy considerations as well as more specific strategy considerations.

The theoretical content of the course will focus on the following basic questions: What is strategy? What characterises strategic decisions? What is strategic analysis? How do you identify strategic opportunities? How can you choose between alternative strategies? How can strategies be implemented? The pitfalls exist in strategic thinking? How are strategic considerations translated into specific considerations?
